As the crypto asset market matures, user demand for trading platforms has shifted from single-asset crypto trading to broader multi-asset price trading and risk management. Against this backdrop, TradFi (Traditional Finance) has become a key area of expansion for crypto trading platforms.
With the TradFi section, Gate integrates traditional financial market trading categories into its platform, offering users a unified gateway that connects both crypto and traditional financial markets.
Gate TradFi is Gate’s new feature for trading traditional financial asset CFDs. Users do not trade the physical assets themselves, but instead engage in contracts for difference that reflect gains and losses based on changes in the underlying asset’s price.
CFDs are widely used in traditional finance, allowing traders to participate in price movements without owning the underlying asset. This structure is operationally similar to crypto derivatives and helps lower the learning curve for crypto users entering traditional financial trading.
Among traditional financial assets, gold enjoys strong market consensus and sustained trading demand. Its price is influenced by macroeconomic factors and is commonly used for risk hedging and portfolio diversification.
Gate TradFi is the first to introduce gold CFDs, allowing users to take long or short positions on gold prices within a familiar crypto trading environment. This provides a clear and accessible starting point for TradFi trading.
Gate TradFi uses USDx as both the margin and account display unit. USDx is an internal unit for pricing TradFi assets and is pegged to USDT at a 1:1 ratio.
Users simply transfer USDT to their TradFi account to start trading—no additional conversion steps or extra fees required. This design delivers a consistent experience with crypto trading in terms of fund management.
TradFi contracts have fixed trading sessions and scheduled market closures. Profits and losses are calculated using counterparty prices, and overnight fees apply during market closure periods. The overall mechanism aligns with mainstream CFD market standards.
Gate TradFi uses fixed leverage multiples and does not allow users to manually adjust leverage. Each asset has a leverage cap based on its risk profile. The margin mode is cross margin, allowing long and short positions within the same trading pair to offset each other.
If the account margin ratio hits the risk threshold, the system will trigger forced liquidation according to predefined rules to manage overall risk exposure. This risk management approach closely mirrors practices in traditional financial markets.
As the boundaries between crypto and traditional financial markets continue to blur, demand for multi-asset and cross-market trading is rising. The introduction of TradFi enables Gate to evolve from a single-asset crypto platform into a comprehensive trading infrastructure.
On a unified platform, users can flexibly switch between crypto and traditional financial assets based on market conditions, enhancing both trading efficiency and portfolio allocation flexibility.
