As a global leader in cryptocurrency trading, Gate has recently broadened its TradFi capabilities, officially launching contract for difference (CFD) trading for traditional financial assets. The new TradFi contracts cover gold, forex, indices, commodities, and select popular stocks. This feature is now integrated into the Gate App, enabling users to expand their trading experience from crypto assets to a wider array of price-driven markets.
This strategic move shows Gate is moving beyond the crypto market, steadily building a diversified trading ecosystem that spans both digital and traditional financial assets. Users now have access to a more complete approach to market participation.
Within TradFi trading accounts, Gate uses USDx as the margin and asset display unit. USDx is not a fiat currency or a crypto asset; it serves as an internal accounting unit for TradFi products on the platform, pegged to USDT at a 1:1 ratio.
When users transfer USDT into their TradFi accounts, the system automatically displays the balance in USDx. No manual conversion is required, and there are no extra fees or custody costs. The assets remain fully backed by USDT, streamlining fund management.
Gate TradFi contracts feature trading mechanisms that differ significantly from crypto perpetual contracts. These contracts follow conventional financial market standards, including fixed market hours and set leverage ratios that cannot be adjusted by users.
The margin model uses cross-margin calculations, allowing long and short positions in the same trading pair to be hedged by lot size. Profits and losses are calculated at the counterparty price, and overnight fees apply during market closures. The overall operation aligns with mainstream CFD market practices.
Gate TradFi provides up to 500x leverage for major asset classes such as forex and indices, while stock CFDs offer up to 5x leverage, reflecting the risk profiles of different asset types.
The fee structure is clear and competitive, with transaction fees as low as $0.018 per trade. This transparency allows users to accurately understand their trading costs when using TradFi services.
Gate TradFi leverages MT5 (MetaTrader 5) for trading services, enabling account information and trade records to sync between the Gate App and MT5 client. This supports both flexible operations and professional trading requirements. For risk management, the platform uses a forced liquidation system based on margin ratio. If an account’s margin ratio drops to 50% or below, the system will gradually liquidate positions according to established rules, reducing risk exposure and maintaining a stable trading environment.
To support the rollout of TradFi features, Gate has launched experience events. Registered users can earn up to 110 USDT in experience rewards and, after completing actual trades, unlock up to 3,000 USDT in stage incentives to support their first TradFi trading experience.
The expansion of TradFi functionality officially extends Gate’s trading platform into the realm of traditional financial asset price trading. Users now have more choices for multi-market price analysis, risk hedging, and trading decisions—all within a single platform.
As the line between crypto and traditional financial markets continues to blur, demand for multi-asset and cross-market trading keeps rising. Gate TradFi’s ongoing enhancements not only signal the platform’s alignment with mature financial market structures and risk management practices, but also provide a valuable case study for integrating diverse asset types within a compliant framework.
