Bitcoin and Ethereum are Layer1 blockchains that have their own technical architectures. However, as the user and scenario needs grow, these architectures face scalability challenges.

Layer2 is a scaling solution that builds on the architecture and security of the Layer1 blockchains.
Bitcoin has Lightning Network; Ethereum's most prominent Layer2 technology is Rollup, which has two variants: Optimistic Rollup (Arbiturm, Optimism) and zkRollup (Zksync). These technologies enable more transactions, lower costs, and better user and developer experiences on Layer2.

In this course, you will learn about various Layer2 cases and their advantages. You will see how they achieve a balance between scalability, decentralization, and security, even if they are based on the same Layer1. You will also learn how to solve scalability bottlenecks more effectively.

### Layer2 Scaling Solution
The goal of this course is to provide you with an in-depth understanding of the basic architecture of Layer 2 scaling technologies, their features, as well as their implementation on major block chains and the challenges they face.

We will start with the basic concepts of Layer 2 solutions, and gradually dive into various Layer 2 scaling technologies, such as major Layer 2 technologies, security, and emerging trends.

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to understand the theoretical underpinnings of Layer 2 scaling technologies, the model architectures used, and the role and possible applications of current Layer 2 technologies in solving blockchain scalability problems. Finally, we will review Layer 1 and Layer 2 compatible blockchain projects, examine the current market position of Layer 2 technology, and trends in other non-Layer 1 and Layer 2 compatible projects.
