Gate.io Launches Self-Trade Prevention (STP) Feature for Futures Market for API Users

Gate.io continuously enhances the trading system to provide a better experience and safer environment for users. We attach importance to monitoring and preventing market manipulation, including self-trading. To protect user interests, we have launched a Self-Trade Prevention (STP) function for futures markets.

Self-trading refers to users or a group of related users trading with themselves, which may disrupt price discovery, distort supply and demand data, and affect market fairness. On Gate.io, intentional manipulation of self-trading behaviour is strictly prohibited.

However, not all self-trading is intentional. Some users may accidentally match their own two orders while running different trading strategies at the same time, and such unintentional self-trading will also have a certain impact on the market. Therefore, we have launched a Self-Trade Prevention (STP) for futures markets to help users avoid the risk of self-trading.

Gate.io futures API users can enable Self-Trade Prevention (STP) from March 15, 2023 onwards. The STP function blocks orders that would result in self-trading. Users can configure STP to invalidate maker, taker, or both orders upon a self-trade. Parameters can be tailored to ensure trading strategies are not impacted by unintended self-trades.
